本書は、老師の弟子であるプロの翻訳者による正式な翻訳版です。翻訳にあたっては、老師の教えとの整合性を確保するため、訳し方の細部に至るまで口頭および書面で老師に説明し、その都度確認と承認を得ながら進められました。
本書は、日本語版をそのまま訳したものではありません。日本語を話さず、老師の坐禅会に出席する機会のない海外の方にも理解できるよう、老師と相談しながら内容を再構成・編集しています。
また、日本語に比べて曖昧さを許さない英語という言語で表現することにより、教えの要点がより明確に示されています。
そのため、英語を読める方であれば、日本語版をすでにお読みになった方でも、新たな発見があるかもしれません。

ABOUT THE TRANSLATOR
Ms.Rena Sugita was born in Japan and raised in both Japan and the United States. A graduate of Vassar College, she has worked for decades as a professional translator and interpreter, translating articles, reports, and books across a range of fields. In 2015, while seeking Truth, she met Inoue Kando Roshi. She became his disciple the following year, and received the Dharma name of Suiun Roko 翠雲魯香. She compiled and published a collection of Inoue Kando Roshi’s lectures in Japanese in 2016 under the title Shinjitsu, Satori, Zen Shugyo Towa.

日本と米国の両国で育つ。ヴァッサー大学卒。日英翻訳・通訳者として長年にわたり活動し、記事、報告書、書籍など幅広い分野の翻訳に携わっている。またNGO職員として調査研究・執筆活動に従事し、日英両言語で出版経験も持つ。
2015年、真実を求めて井上貫道老師に出会い、翌年弟子となり、翠雲魯香(すいうんろこう)の名を授かる。2016年には、本書の原著にあたる井上貫道老師提唱録『真実、悟り、禅修行とは』を編集・出版している。
